Frances Perkins Homestead Tours

Visit the Newcastle home of Frances Perkins, first woman Cabinet member and FDR’s Secretary of Labor. Enjoy guided tours of the 1837 Brick House and historic district with its 57 acres of fields, gardens, and trails to the Damariscotta River. Two tour options are available: A 3-hour includes the Homestead and a walk to the Damariscotta River.  A 1 ½-hour tour includes the Homestead without the River walk. Sturdy walking shoes and a hat are recommended. Water is provided. Tours are led by Frances Perkins Center Board and Staff members, as well as Frances Perkins’ grandson, Tomlin Perkins Coggeshall when available. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
