May 20, 2015- Frances Perkins Center to host Hedrick Smith at AFL-CIO in Washington D.C. 5-7 p.m.

If you are in the D.C. area on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 please join us at AFL-CIO headquarters from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Hedrick Smith will be speaking and signing copies of his latest book “Who Stole the American Dream?”

The event will take place on the 8th floor in the George Meany conference room, overlooking the White House, at the AFL-CIO, 815 16th St. NW.

Pulitzer Prize winner Hedrick Smith has written a powerful, timely sequel to his classic best seller “The Power Game: How Washington Works.” His new work, WHO STOLE THE AMERICAN DREAM? steps back from the partisan fever of politics in Washington to explain how we became Two Americas – how America moved from an era of middle class prosperity and power, effective bipartisanship and grass roots activism to today’s polarized gridlock, unequal democracy and an even more unequal economy that has unraveled the American Dream for millions of middle class families. Hedrick Smith, Pulitzer Prize-winning former New York Times reporter and editor and Emmy award-winning producer/correspondent, has established himself over the past 50 years of his career as one of America’s most distinguished journalists.

Over 25 years, PBS viewers saw Hedrick Smith as a principal panelist on Washington Week in Review and as a special correspondent for The NewsHour with Jim LehrHedrick Smith small
