The 7th Annual Frances Perkins Center Garden Party and awards ceremony will take place on Friday August 14, 2015. This date marks the 80th Anniversary of Social Security at will take place at the National Historic Landmark designated home of Frances Perkins in Newcastle, Maine. Perkins, Secretary of Labor under Franklin Delano Roosevelt from 1933-1945, was credited as the principal architect of the New Deal.
The Frances Perkins Center’s Intelligence and Courage Award and Open Door Award will be presented to two people who work in the areas in which Frances Perkins dedicated her career, social justice and economic security.
The afternoon event, which starts at 3 p.m., offers an awards ceremony, an elegant buffet, and social hour. Tickets are $75 per person. Transportation is provided by the Frances Perkins Center from downtown Newcastle.
