Frances Perkins Center is on the Move!

Since its incorporation a decade ago, the Frances Perkins Center has been devoted to honoring the legacy of Frances Perkins.

YOU for joining us along this journey! In celebration of our 10th Anniversary, we hope you will consider supporting our work in honor of the 40-hour work week law initiated by Frances Perkins with a gift of $40.00.
Here’s why we ask:

Now More than Ever

We are on the move and seek your continuing participation. In response to ever expanding requests, the Center is devoted to bringing Frances Perkins programs and educational resources to locations where people seek us out. This widespread popularity means that the dream the founders of the Center had ten years ago is becoming true in ways that not one then expected. We need your support to ensure we can continue responding positively to all the inquiries we are receiving from across the country and beyond.

Expanding Educational Outreach

This year, the Center launched an instructional video and traveling exhibit—powerful new tools already viewed at many locations including the Maine State House, public school classrooms, libraries, community centers, and at multi-state conventions. The six-panel exhibit ships to Iowa soon! To inspire learning beyond the reaches of our Damariscotta downtown exhibit space, Senior College classes, and special programs, we need your financial help to bring this program and other educational materials to venues well beyond our state borders.

Envisioning the Future

Finally, thanks to the generosity of many, the Center is poised to purchase Frances Perkins’ ancestral homestead in Newcastle, ME. Our future location will make possible still more Frances Perkins experiences for both visitors to the Homestead and people around the nation. Ownership of this National Historic Landmark, with its 1837 Brick House, connected barns, and 57 acres along the Damariscotta River, will bring new financial responsibilities – both capital and operational. We need your help as we commit to further preserve and protect the legacy of this great American woman and historic cultural landscape in perpetuity.

Service to Frances Perkins’ Legacy

“Thank you for your loving care and service to the Frances Perkins Legacy.”

When someone comes to a deeper awareness, not simply of Perkins as a historical figure, but also of her work, her principles, and what they mean to America, we succeed in serving our mission. The only national organization devoted to the history and principles of our namesake, the Center is at an exciting transitional stage where we need more staff and annual funding to continue responding purposefully to all the invitations and inquiries we are now receiving. We want to continue providing you with quality Frances Perkins experiences. The ability to afford adequate administrative and material resources will help the Center carry this mantle into its second decade. We cannot do this alone.

We need YOU!

Frances Perkins knew she could not accomplish great things alone. She gathered many, many others who together with her helped America to flourish in fresh ways. In this same spirit, we seek your assistance, especially your financial partnership, during this important time of momentum and transition. Please join us in helping the Frances Perkins Center meet its present and future with great strength. Your support is powerful. Your giving is appreciated.

Thank you,
