The Frances Perkins Center is a non-profit organization and official philanthropic partner of the Frances Perkins National Monument. We are a nationally recognized cultural institution based at the national monument in Newcastle, Maine, established to inspire current and future generations to understand and uphold the government’s role in providing social justice and economic security for all. Our work is guided by Frances Perkins’ effective leadership style and one woman’s power to change the world.

FRANCES PERKINS

NATIONAL MONUMENT

The Frances Perkins National Monument sits on a fifty-seven-acre  saltwater farm in Newcastle, Maine. This monument is a tangible reminder that America is intended to be a vast homestead for all its people, a lively household for one and all, and that concern for the common good should govern our life together. Reflecting on Frances Perkins’ commitment to the principle that “government should provide all its people with the best possible life,” we believe that her ancestral homestead and our idea of the nation as “homestead for all” can help us bolster important American values where the strength of our nation resides in its diversity.

The Frances Perkins Center is the official philanthropic partner of the Frances Perkins National Monument. In 2025, the Center is partnering with NPS to open the doors of the brand-new Welcome Center and self-guided exhibit in the Homestead Barn for the monument’s inaugural Summer Season.
