Forum on July 14.

at Perkins Center Forum
The Frances Perkins Center’s inaugural Public Policy
Forum will feature former Congressman Barney Frank. The
forum takes place on Monday, July 14, at the Coleman
Burke Event Gallery at Fort Andross, 14 Maine Street in
Brunswick, beginning at 6 p.m. with a light reception and
the program beginning at 7 p.m.
In addition to speaking at the Forum, Frank will be award-
ed the Center’s Courage and Intelligence Award.
Frances Perkins, FDR’s Secretary of Labor and the first
woman to serve as a cabinet secretary, was the principal
architect of the New Deal, credited with formulating poli-
cies to shore up the national economy following the nation’s
most serious economic crisis and helping to create the mod-
ern middle class. The Frances Perkins Center was incor-
porated in Newcastle, Maine, in 2009, to honor its name-
sake and to fulfill her legacy by continuing her work for
social justice and economic security, and preserving for
future generations her family homestead.
Registration is required, and the ticket price for the pre-
event reception is $35 on a first-come, first-served basis.
